Welcome to the Maine PowerChute Association home page. Within this site, we'll provide more information about one of the most exhilirating and unique form of flying - roaming the skies in a powered parachute. We'll also provide information about our membership, about learning to fly these aircraft, about contacting our members, our official flying events, and lots of other fun stuff.

Annual membership is $20.  As a member, you'll receive our almost-monthly Newsletter, which brings all our members up to date on our events, in addition to safety tips and practices, lots of humor, interesting flying articles, occasionally some boring recap of an event where nothing happened, and lots of flying pictures with our usual irreverent commentary.

Contact any of our members for more information about this terrific sport.  Or better yet, come to one of our many fly-ins, and see for yourself why it's so much better to see our great country the Low and Slow way...

More Sport Pilot stuff
Just two new items on this front:

1.  Visit the new site created to give you a lot of information about the current state of the Sport Pilot process, instruction, FAA rules, and some material on the "N" numbering and registration process. It is www.jagobel.com

2.  One of our MPA members Carroll Werren has completed his CFI rating!  He can now endorse the many of you who need the FAA checkride for the Sport Pilot, and that was only thing you were lacking.  Contact Carroll at 603-491-2811, or CFD55@aol.com

Plan your summer vacation NOW for our annual MPA Flight Adventure trip
Week of August 11th!

We're going to fly across the White Mountains, starting near Montpelier, VT and ending up in Augusta, ME.  There are 7 legs to the trip - it should take about a week.  See schematic below.

Similar to our trips across Maine, we're planning on staying for one day at each of the 8 airports.  While there, we'll explore the area, hang out, tell stories, sleep (sometimes while telling stories), and just relax - but most of all ...
SEE SOME UNBELIEVABLE SIGHTS

MPA Chuting Eagles PPC Flight Demonstration Team gets ready for its second full season

Practice sessions and show events are being lined up right now as the MPA flight demonstration team, the Chuting Eagles prepare their routine for the upcoming season.

The highlight of the year for the demonstration team will be the Great State of Maine AIrshow at the Brunswick Naval Air Station (yes, it's still at Brunswick), where we'll be sharing the air with the best aerial acts in the country, and of course with arguably the best precision flying team in the world, the   Navy's Blue Angels.

We'll be practicing at all our fly-ins, as well as during our annual adventure trip, so come see us any time.  We'll be announcing any upcoming civic event shows, county fairs, etc. as the events and dates get finalized.
2008 Fly-In Schedule
PPC Repairman Course offered

This is the 16 hour course that anyone who wants to do his own annual inspection must take.  The MPA has prepared this course, and is about to submit it to the FAA for approval.  Target date is sometime in the first two weeks of June.

Excellent fly-in at Knox County
A good turnout and fairly decent flying weather combined for a good time.  Most of us used it to get the rust and dust and cobwebs out of our planes, to see if last year's flying clothes still fit, to try to remember how the GPS works, and to re-discover that batteries don't last forever.

Very short takeoff (video)
That should be the last of the winter shots - next picture will have green trees under us!
